Shattering everyone's peace
....peter:): kind of sorta like that Bill... but there is some skill involved spinning a boat around into your own wake several times in seconds....petersmile
Hopefully he's only there for a short time, Peter, and peace & tranquility returns when he's gone.

A few points come out of this:

1) I don't really understand why people use power craft to run up and down on the water. You take your boat to visit people on the other side, or to get to the good fishing water - then it is functional. But otherwise?
2) With reference to Chris' comment, there is a little conundrum built in there somewhere. People with little going on inside their heads, can afford jet ski's or go on what would be expensive vacations, etc. So how come, one can get their hands on big bucks, while lacking the basic brain power ... This is something I am thinking about nowadays. I know there will be the ones who inherited, but they are few and should lose the moolah quite fast.
3) The lake area seems well populated. If one is looking for peace, would that be the place to go and live? I live in a stock standard neighbourhood and I know that every now and then, one of the neighbours will act up in some way. The neighbour three houses down works on his car/boat/motorcycle (he has all three) and when he is finished, he "tests" the machine with thunderous roars and screams. That could continue up to 5 mins. Only he knows what he is testing.

And so on, and so forth. People are just that - people.
....peter:): thank you very much Louis for your long comment about the jet skis on the lake... the only good part is that they are out mostly on weekends and we are quiet here from Monday to Friday afternoon...
most of these are teenagers who are spending their parents money to pay just for the gas for these machines....
and yes people are just that - people!
