The largest quarry in the Cassis district, previously working the distinctive pinky grey marly limestone as building stone - used amongst other things for the base of the Statue of Liberty and Alexandrai Docks. Small scale quarrying still takes place in the district. The hulking remains of 18th-century tremies, stone ship-loading funnels in Calanque Port Miou is now a marina.
