The Weir on the River Avon in Bath

The Weir in Bath on the River Avon is a low barrier built across a river in order to control water level and regulate flow... it was completely rebuilt in the early 1970s and given a more effective and now iconic V-shape design. A sluice and controlled flood gates were also added in the upgrade.

That's so cool! And very photogenic! I love that you caught the gull flying over it!
....peter:): thank you Elizabeth... i caught the right angle for the scene and the gull was added to the photo....petersmile
Très belle composition Peter avec en plus le goéland qui survole. Cette rivière semble magnifique. Bisous pour 3

It doesn't look like that today, Peter. The Avon has flooded upstream (where we live), and you can hardly see any turbulence at the weir here as the water is so high
....peter:): that's a shame Lisl... we got lucky to have been there at the right time....petersmile

Great capture of the weir Peter. Most people include the bridge so this is a refreshingly new angle.
....peter:): i liked this angle for the weir Chad... i added the bridge in tomorrow's posting....petersmile

Look really cool. I haven´t seen anything like this before.
....peter:): i have seen many weirs that are straight across a river Frids... but this V shaped weir was the only one that i have seen as well....petersmile
Could a photo be more perfectly composed? No! What a quick finger, peter!
....peter:): thank you so much for such the fine compliment Care... the gull was an added bonus....petersmile

The seagull adds considerably to this view. There's a good flow of water over the weir.
Fabulous photo smile

I am enjoying your views of Bath.
Nice view. Always handy to have a passing gull for balance.
....peter:): thanks Graeme... the Weir on the River Avon is very beautiful... and the gull was just luck....petersmile
