....peter:): Thanks Sherri.... as you approach the mountains your jaw begins to drop....and it stays that way until you are back on the plains....petersmile

gasp!! how utterly beautiful Peter!!! did you take a long road trip? hubby wants to move to red deer did you pass thru there?? i'm glad your url stayed, it was something about that last theme that was eating them... i'm getting so overwhelmed i'm forgetting to post pictures at 6:00
....peter:): I like the gasp!! Elaine it is great....we took a 7 day trio from Calgary to Banff National Park and up to Jasper and back .... if you and Hubby move to Red Deer you will be 140 Klm away from the mountains...directly north of Calgary this shot was about 60 Klm out of Calgary....but it is closer to the foothills than Red Dear.....but you should be able to see the mountains on a clear day.....now go and post some pics for me to see tonightgrin....petersmile

I remember my first first view of the Rockies as I approached from Calgary. After flying over the relatively flat lands to the east of Calgar, the mountains just drawn you in. Fabulous!
....peter:): I agree with you Alan my first view of the Rockies was when i flew over them 15 years earlier....i couldn't wait to see them from the highway....we finally took this trip in 2006smile....petersmile

You can still see small areas of snow. Wonderful shot.
....peter:): I am glad that you picked that up Mary....when you get into the mountains you realize that they are magnificent glaciers....petersmile
Excellent shot Peter, this really was a barrier to those early settlers wasn't it.
....peter:): Thanks Brian...the early settles came long after the hunters and trappers who opened up the trails through the mountains....petersmile
This one is also strong and beautiful at the same time. Congrats, Peter - Ahoj K wink
....peter:): Thank you very much Klaudia....it is such a compliment when it comes from you....Ahoj....peter/Petrsmile
