Is it possible to get to the top of these Peter?
....peter:): Hi Chris this is what i have read online about Castle Mountain...
Although it looks steep and intimidating from the road, at an elevation of 2766m (9076ft.)it is easily ascended from the back side.....petersmile

looks a bit like what I have seen in Austria
....peter:): than you have also seen great things Chantal....petersmile
You could have had a little more contrast here, to emphasize the line between sky and mountain, itis all a bit gray now.
....peter:): I agree with you Marion and thank you for an honest critique.... i will do just that to the original to see how it turns out....thanks again....petersmile

wow, the sheer face of that rugged thing. would love to get a view from the top but am pretty sure wouldnt be able to get up to it by myself.

And thanks for swinging by Peter, that was very kind of you. Purists tend to steer clear of HDR, from what I understand, but hey, in the end I suppose what matters most is what pleases you. Give it a try smile
....peter:): Thank you very much Ayush....Castle Mountain has an elevation of 2766m (9076ft.) ....there are ski resorts but from my research they only ski from the tree line down.....i have not read up on any information about climbing these three
Thank you for your comment on HDR....i will have to look into it....petersmile
Ray's description is spot on Peter
....peter:): I agree Bill....petersmile
Wow.. thats some rock-face Peter, looks like there could be a way up through that cleft just right of centre... you see you're tempting me again!
....peter:): Thanks for the Wow Frank....but i don't think that it would be an easy task to climb it... Castle Mountain has an elevation of 2766m (9076ft.) go for itgrin....let me know how you make out....and bring a good hard case camera with yougrin....petersmile

A rock climber's dream Peter.
....peter:): I am not so sure about it being a realistic dream at an elevation of 2766m (9076ft.) .....but some of them can dream about it.....Frank has even picked out the cleft from which to climb it lolgrin....petersmile
Very majestic - as fitting for a castle.
....peter:): Thank you Mary....the mountain was renamed Mount Eisenhower in 1946 ....It took thirty-three years and an Albertan as Prime Minister before Castle Mountain regained its original name in 1979....good...petersmile
Haha, when I first saw this marvellous image, Peter, I fully expected to see the faces of our most beloved Prime Ministers carved into the rock.
....peter:): Not even a chance of it Beverly....the people of Alberta take a lot of pride in it as it is....the mountain was renamed Mount Eisenhower in 1946 ....
It took thirty-three years and an Albertan as Prime Minister before Castle Mountain regained its original name in 1979....good...petersmile

....peter:): Thank you very much has an elevation of 2766m (9076ft.) and there are many different view of it from miles away....petersmile
Now, this is a real question for you, mate. wink
Do you know why it's called Castle Mountain?

Is it because the mountain looks like a castle?
Or there's actually a castle on the mountain? wink

The storm clouds make this look more powerful!
Don't you think so?
....peter:): It is Castle Mountain because it looks like a castle LC.
It was named by James Hector in 1858. The mountain was named for its fortress or castle-like appearance.

The long version of why it was called as such can be found at:

I was going to quote parts of it to you but my reply would be quite lengthysmile
Thank you very much for mentioning the storm clouds.
You know how tall and dramatic these flat-topped mountains are by the way the treeline stops so dramatically! Fantastic!
....peter:): Yes i do Alexandra and thanks for the Fantastic remark ....Castle Mountain has an elevation of 2766m (9076ft.) i the missed the highest peak which was just to the right of the shot.... perhaps i captured it from further away....if i find it i will post it later....petersmile
wonderful image, sceneria ...
....peter:): Thamk you very much Klaudia....i appreciate your visit....i will not even try to reply to you in Slovak this timegrin....petersmile
